USS Constitution
The USS Constitution is an American staple in history, especially for her actions in the War of 1812! It was one of six frigates in the US Navy, named by George Washington. It was launched in 1797, and is now one of the oldest commissioned warships still afloat in the world. However, since it is almost 220 years old it was in need of some restoration.
In the summer of 2016, Capital Construction Contracting Inc. was honored to perform the restoration work needed on the USS Constitution in the Charlestown Navy Yard. The quarter galleys of “Old Ironsides” were covered in an old lead roll roofing that was weathered and battered. We fabricated the custom-made quarter galley roofs right in our own metal shop and restored them to their natural copper beauty!
During the summer of 2016 the masonry crew at Capital Construction did the mimic work for the front of 662 Mass Ave. Perfectly mimicking the sill work and corbels. During the spring of 2017 our gutters team replicated the wood gutters on a Historical landmark. The list of work goes on and on and we want your historical renovation or contracting work to be our next.

The Ebenezer Hancock House is located along the Freedom Trail, just past Faneuil Hall. The building is the only dwelling still standing in Boston that can be associated with John Hancock.
This structure is one of Boston’s 40 historic homes, is on the Freedom Trail Near Faneuil Hall and the Union Oyster House.
Gilman Chapel
A chapel on the grounds of Cedar Grove Cemetery will be the focus next month of a significant restoration project meant to bring the impressive stone edifice back to its former glory. The Gilman Chapel – named for the husband-and-wife benefactors who funded its construction in 1930- is in urgent need of repairs, particularly to its stone exterior and windows, where moisture infiltration has become a worsening problem in recent years.
Capital Construction, with expertise in repairing historic structures across the region, has been contracted to begin the initial phase of work. The stained glass that frames the chapel’s two largest windows front and rear will also need repairs, and will be part of the second phase of restoration.
Our team is eager to get started on a project that has special significance to the community where they are based. Capital Construction understands what this chapel means to the neighborhood.

Complete facade rebuild by Capital Construction. New windows and doors installed along with interior drywall and paint. Installation of their new sign- ‘SIP DINE DANCE- BLEND’
The popular bar and dance club in Dorchester known as Peggy O’Neil’s has been a fixture on Dorchester Avenue for more than half a century. Now, with an eye trained reverently on the past, Caron O’Neil and her family with the help of Capital Construction are ready to transition their bar into the future.
In a recent interview, Caron O Neil, the owner said, “To see my vision come to life, it’s incredible.” “Blend’s a new name, but there’s a lot of history behind this place and the people in it,” she said. “The Name ‘Blend’ is a representation of what Dorchester represents, and also what the O’Neil’s family legacy is, from the past and going into the future. It seemed like the perfect name.” “Blend” a new motto of “sip. dine. dance.” are meant to give the place an updated, sophisticated aesthetic.
The Glover’s Corner establishment have recently finished all stages of its transformation with the help from Capital Construction Contracting into ‘blend,” a sleeker, more contemporary iteration of the old pub that Caron O’Neil hopes will impress with fresh looks while retaining the character and ambiance that has come to define it.
The extensive transformation by Capital Construction Contracting which has taken about a year and a half to complete, has been community-oriented from the start, based on close collaboration between the O’Neil’s, the mayor’s office, Mayor Walsh himself, and the enlistment of local organizations like our company, Dorchester-based Capital Construction Contracting, a downtown architecture firm, and a South Boston-based logo design firm.
